Purpose:

To allow persons who work with Real Estate Data, MetaData and Non-Meta Data, and allow for a file standard that allows information between databases to be retained and used faster.

Goal:

Since the Internet is used more than ever, purchasing/selling/renting Real Estate has been difficult to move information from database to database. Searching for properties on the Internet is as diverse as the websites that exist. By maintaining a standard of how properties are categorized, and displayed, users will be able to save their property information and import/export their property into many different databases that conform to the OpenPMX standard.

Example: The Government has their own database of properties with the legal, tax information. REALTORS would be able to access the government file, add their information into the file, with photo documentation and property is sold. Property Managers would be able to retrieve the same property file, and would be able to rent out the property and the end user would be able to see information that has been documented previously.

Concerns:

With the file being an open format, there are some parts that can be displayed and some hidden based on the Web Developers preference in the database. They can either save the extra information in their own database, or disregard it. Either way, the developers are happy and the persons/companies/governments are happy as well.

The latest OpenPMX file will always be stored at this location. At the current time, the file is in ALPHA stage (use at your own risk, as we WILL be changing it around). It is not ready for public use, as we have not received the amount of feedback on the standard at this time. If you are interested in contributing to the project, please join our Mailing List.
